A Conversation With Yeshua

Hello friends.

I am starting this blog to tell you about a project I have been working on for several years. Namely, researching all of the First Century A.D. books and letters that purport to contain the words of Jesus in order to drill back to the probable oral tradition that contains his actual teachings.

I originally became interested in this over ten years ago when I was taking theology classes.

I have been interested in religious studies for many years. At some point I finally realized that much of what is taught by Christian churches has very little to do with the teachings of Jesus.Over the years, much has been added.

Fortunately, there are many documents that have surfaced that never made it into the Bible.  This gives us a rich resource to explore how other early faith groups understood Jesus' message.  When you find groups that were obviously different in philosophy, and there find common sayings, you increase the odds that the sayings actually did originate with Jesus.

Each  week I hope to add to this blog, describing how I went about researching this project. I then hope to share with you one of the 52 sayings I discovered, each week of next year.

Some time next month my book, "A Conversation With Yeshua' will be published. I, of course, hope that these blogs will kindle an interest in you to get it and see how I have used my research to craft a conversation with Jesus. I think you will find that the Jesus I discovered is quite different that the one you learned about.

Since there is a blizzard outside my door as I write this, it is time to stop writing and start shovelling.

May you have a safe week.

Pete McDonough
